Malta Independent Friday, 26 August 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

Bank of Valletta has made a donation of Lm1,000 to Dar tal-Providenza. This was possible due to the talent, creativity, effort and pro-activeness of BOV employees who, for the third consecutive year, have organised a BOV Talent Show. More than 80 members of staff were involved in this initiative for the enjoyment of colleagues, family and friends.

Bank of Valletta’s Sport and Social Club vice-president Edward Grech, together with BOV employee Mario Falzon, presented the donation to Dar tal-Providenza director Lawrence Gatt during a visit they paid to the institution

Mgr Gatt thanked BOV for choosing Dar tal-Providenza as the beneficiary of the proceeds from BOV’s Talent Show. He commented on the problems that Dar tal-Providenza has to face on a daily basis, including a shortage of financing and a lack of volunteers, and praised the efforts of the members of BOV’s staff who had participated in the show.

Mr Grech reiterated BOV’s determination to play an active role in society by supporting social initiatives directed at improving the overall quality of life. “Bank of Valletta is pleased to assist Dar tal-Providenza in its most vital work which is directed at the rehabilitation of its residents which, in practice, means independence and, eventually integration in society.

“We are confident that our donation will serve as an encouragement for this institution to continue with the most important work that it is performing.”
