Longbow Ltd has recently launched Kiki’s Environmental Guarantee. This registered trade-mark was developed with one main goal in mind, to assure clientele and end-users that environmental standards were being adhered to.

In other words, if the company says its bags are biodegradable, products holding the Kiki’s Environmental Guarantee logo have been researched and tested to the relevant standards which are applicable to local conditions.

Longbow Ltd pioneered the use of degradable and biodegradable bags in Malta.

“We anticipated the niche three years prior to our first importation. Up until then, Malta was still using normal plastic for every use without ever trying to introduce an environmentally-friendly alternative,” a company spokesman said. Longbow Ltd has since then become one of the main suppliers of enviro-friendly plastics,with others subsequently following.

Initially, customers were becoming confused and at times misled into believing any claim. This was understandable, since the environment, and even more so environmental standards, were of little interest to many. Even though this mentality seemed hard to beat, Longbow insisted that it was vitally important to promote environmental quality because the plastic waste problem was an enormous reality.

“Normal” plastic was killing aquatic life and spoiling the environment, and will continue to do so for hundreds of years since it takes a very long time to disintegrate. For this reason, the company introduced Kiki’s Environmental Guarantee – a registered trade mark that assures the buyer or user that the bag in hand has been independently tested and proved according to the claim it holds (degradable or biodegradable). This trade mark is Longbow’s private initiative which uses national, international and public interests as its driver and guideline. Products holding this logo are purely environmentally-friendly, and all Longbow’s products will bear this logo clearly for the benefit of the user and the environment. This logo is also an open invitation to anyone who may want verification of the seriousness and adequacy of products regarding the standards against which they were tried and tested.
