A small explosion took place at the Zurrieq Tal-Karmnu fireworks factory yesterday while the leftovers were being cleared away.
Following the locality's festa, the people responsible gathered all the leftovers from the fireworks and put a match to them.
Some live material was still among the debris and exploded, police sources said.
No one was injured in the incident and no damage to the factory was caused.
