Malta Independent Sunday, 4 September 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 20 years ago

Frank Salt Investments Ltd is once again offering an annual award of Lm1,000 to the person, people or organisation who, according to the adjudicating committee, has done the most during 2005 to promote culture, the environment or national pride.

The adjudicating committee will once again be comprised of Maurice de Giorgio (chairman), Martin Scicluna, Philip Zammit Briffa and Philip Farrugia Randon.

The award of Lm1,000 will be presented on or about 10 November of the current year.

There is a different theme for each annual presentation: either culture, the environment or national pride. This year the award will be for culture and the arts.

Nominations will be accepted from either the nominees themselves or from third parties. In the latter case the nominee’s acceptance has to be obtained.

Nominations for the culture award could be related to culture in the form of literature, visual arts, drama, theatre, music or cultural heritage projects.

Nomination forms can be obtained from the offices of Frank Salt, The Whispers, First Floor, 7 Ross Street, Paceville, St Julian’s, STJ 06.

All nominations must be submitted to the above address by 1 October and envelopes must be marked “ Frank Salt Investment Ltd Award”.

Mr Salt, whose firm is giving this annual award said: “The objective of this annual award is to recognise the individual and collective efforts made for the cultural betterment of the Maltese Islands, and to reward the finest of such efforts.” The response to last year’s awards was so good, that he urged those wishing to participate in this scheme to collect the application forms and return them as soon as possible.

In addition to the Lm1,000 first prize, signed certificates of appreciation and a memento will be given to the two runners up.
