Malta Independent Wednesday, 7 September 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

As part of its commitment in offering consumers great solutions for staying healthy and having a balanced diet, Kellogg’s is distributing informative leaflets about the benefits of fibre and how this can help your inner health. These leaflets include detailed information on different types of fibre, how to eat more fibre and choosing the right fibre for a healthier diet.

These Kellogg’s leaflets are available from all local supermarkets and grocers. Alternatively, one may pick up a free copy from CD Promotions, Vincenti Buildings, 15/2 Strait Str, Valletta between Monday and Friday from 8.30am to 1.30pm. This leaflet also includes an additional 30-point voucher in the CD Gift Scheme once presented together with any five Kellogg’s All-Bran or Fruit & Fibre pack tops.

In simple terms, fibre is the name given to a group of materials that are found in the cell walls of plants, which materials give the plant its shape and form. Most people know that fibre is good for a healthy digestive system. However, many do not realise that the benefits of eating enough fibre stretch far beyond digestion. A diet high in fibre can also reduce the risk of developing ailments such as diabetes, heart disease and cancers. A diet high in fibre can also affect positively the way you feel by helping to feel less bloated and stopping you from feeling heavy and lethargic.

Most food that is high in fibre is naturally low in fat and full of vitamins, minerals and other substances that protect one’s health. Thus by eating more fibre one will automatically be following a healthier diet.

The range of Kellogg’s cereals which are rich in fibre are Kellogg’s All-Bran original, All-Bran Bran Flakes, All-Bran Sultana Bran and Kellogg’s Fruit’n Fibre.
