It is common knowledge that Maltese sport bodies are experiencing problems in finding sponsorships and one of the reasons is that local product branding tends to be product focused and based on traditional marketing tools. It also seems that Companies are not finding sports sponsorship value for money. The MOC believes that there are numerous benefits in 'Sports Marketing' for both companies and associations, if we all understand what 'Sports Marketing' is all about.
During a Press brief yesterday, Dr. Kirill Micallef Stafrace, MOC Director of Marketing announced that this is the reason why the Malta Olympic Committee felt the need to organise a 'Sports Marketing Seminar' to give a better understanding of what entities such as the Malta Olympic Committee and its affiliated associations can offer and how such platforms can be incorporated with business objectives as defined in marketing and sales strategies, at various levels from grass roots to elite. This seminar is being organised with the assistance of the Olympic Solidarity and Meridian (IOC) and supported by the International Advertising Association - Malta.
This Sports Marketing Seminar will be taking place between the 7th and the 9th October at the Dolmen Hotel and is a unique opportunity for those involved in Sales & Marketing to come along and find out what Sports Marketing is all about, how it can help a company reach its objectives, what sports platforms are available and can Sports Marketing work? If in the international arena and other countries Sports Marketing works - then why not Malta; why isn't Sport given the due recognition and coverage it deserves!
Another course open to participants of the MOC Marketing Seminar and affiliated associations is a National Training Course for Sports Administrators organised under the auspices of the International Olympic Committee. Course director Mr. Joseph Cassar announced that the objective of this course is to improve the knowledge of sport administrators and strengthen the management
