Malta Independent Sunday, 9 October 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

Bank of Valletta is participating in the IT&T Fair being held at the Trade Fair Grounds in Naxxar between 12 and 16 October. Bank of Valletta will be promoting its high technology based products and services namely Internet Banking, Phone Banking as well as BOV’s Personal and Computer loans at the fair.

“Bank of Valletta’s choice to participate in the IT&T Fair is an obvious one,” stated Victor Denaro, chief officer IT of BOV. “The investment in a solid IT infrastructure and much of what we can offer today, both in terms of products as well as services, is thanks to the huge IT developments undertaken in the past few years. These efforts have been recognised both locally and internationally,” said Mr Denaro.

Speaking about BOV’s investments in IT over the past year, Mr Denaro said, “All ATMs were upgraded to support EMV smart-card technology as well as the latest encryption software. BOV also implemented EMV acquiring functionality, facilitating smart-card authorizations through the latest POS devices. Most of the ATM network was upgraded to provide a more consistent and user friendly customer interface.

“The bank’s Internet Banking facility is continuously evolving. In fact, following BOV’s launch of Malta’s first e-brokerage functionality through its 24x7 channels – the first service of its kind in Malta, various new enhancements are being rolled out through Internet Banking and other BOV 24x7 channels. BOV also migrated recently to new IT platforms for its fund management and private wealth management services while BOVnet, the Bank’s WAN infrastructure, was upgraded to enable the transport and integration of applications, including data, video and voice over a single, IP-based converged business infrastructure.”

Visitors to this year’s edition of the IT&T Fair can enquire about the various services available through the bank’s website and its Internet Banking platform. Visitors, particularly students, will be welcome to obtain information on the bank’s various products and offers concerning the purchase of computers and other IT equipment.
