In a reply to Carmelo Abela, Education Minister Louis Galea outlined what has been done since the completion of the report on inclusive education by the working group headed by former minister Lino Spiteri.
Dr Galea said the report was officially presented on 22 July and was immediately posted on the website. Comments and questions were invited and the report has been distributed to all schools. The Education Division has launched a pilot project which will focus on networking between special schools and the implementation of the report.
George Borg was appointed coordinator of this pilot project. A training programme will be launched next Monday for special schools.
More teachers have been engaged for the peripatetic service for hearing-impaired children while three people have begun a Masters course at the University of Birmingham on matters relating to children with disabilities.
