The fourth annual Students Cinema Day will be held on Saturday, 29 October when six cinema complexes with a total of 40 screens will be offering students in Malta and Gozo a choice from 20 pictures, KRS film distributors said yesterday.
The films showing on the day are Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride and Dreamwork’s Wallace & Gromit, The Curse of the Were-Rabbit, and classics Jane Austen’s Pride & Prejudice and Charles Dickens’ Oliver Twist. Other films being featured are the comic features Deuce Bigalow – European Gigolo, The 40-Year-Old Virgin, The Dukes of Hazzard and Wedding Crashers.
Films that are expected to attract wide audiences are the action thrillers The Cave, Four Brothers, A History of Violence, Red Eye and the sports dramas Cinderella Man and Goal!
Students will be able to see any films of their choice at a reduced price of admission of Lm1.15c for those aged under 16 or Lm1.50c for those aged 16 and over.
The offer applies to all students, irrespective of their age and whether they come from government, private schools or university. However, students aged over 16 will be required to produce their student card to be entitled to a reduced price ticket.
A discounted admission price will apply to all screenings which will commence at 9am and run until late at night.
The two-screen cinema in Gozo will show three screenings on each, the first show being at 5.45pm and the last at 10.30pm.
Students Cinema Day will be celebrated at the Eden Century Cinemas in St Julian’s, Eden Century Cinemas Galleria in Fgura, Empire Cinema in Bugibba, Embassy Cinemaworld in Valletta, The New Sun City Cine Palais in Marsascala and Citadel Cinemas in Gozo.
