Go Mobile launches CNN Breaking News SMS Alerts

Malta Independent Thursday, 13 October 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

Following the launch of the WAP-based CNNmobile service a few months ago, go mobile has now launched CNN Breaking News SMS Alerts – a service which provides users with the latest international news via SMS, as soon as the stories break.

“All go mobile customers can benefit from this service. Now, one does not need to follow the news, as the news follows the subscriber. As soon as a significant story breaks, CNN will send a text alert to one’s go mobile phone,” said go mobile’s public relations and market research executive Franco Aloisio.

One can subscribe to CNN Breaking News SMS Alerts by sending an SMS containing S CNN to 4505 (cost is five cents). Each CNN Breaking News SMS Alert will cost five cents. Go mobile customers who have already subscribed to CNNmobile will receive CNN Breaking News SMS Alerts at no extra cost.

These services have been made possible thanks to an agreement between go mobile and Turner Broadcasting System. CNNmobile is available via WAP on any go Live! phone.

Subscribers of CNNmobile can remain updated with the news headlines and developing stories globally, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. News stories come from the award-winning CNN.com and are presented in text format, accompanying related colour pictures, depending on the display capabilities of the WAP handset.

Go Live! customers wishing to subscribe to CNNmobile may access go Live! by visiting http://golive or http://wap.go. com.mt. Subscription costs Lm1.50 for a 30-day period, and includes free CNN Breaking News SMS Alerts.
