Melita Cable announced the addition of two new channels to its existing channel line up last week. Hallmark Channel will be added to both the digital and analogue platform while Eurosport 2 was included in the Melita Connect channel line up from last Wednesday.
Franco de Gabriele, Head Sales and Marketing, said: “Hallmark is one of the prime TV movies channel available for Malta and we are glad to have concluded this deal. Hallmark Channel will be available to all Family Pack subscribers in analogue as well as Melita Connect subscribers in digital. Melita will also introduce Eurosport 2 to its digital line up, thus consolidating its position as the leading provider of sports content in Malta.
“Melita regrets to inform its subscribers that it will not be in a position to continue broadcasting the Bravo Channel on its channel line up. This was a difficult decision for the company,” commented Mr de Gabriele. “In the last few weeks the issue of sports rights connected with the Italian Serie A programming has become more complex. As a matter of fact we have been forced, by virtue of a court order, to block the majority of the live and repeat Italian Serie A games scheduled on Bravo. This amounts to nearly 10 per cent of all the programming of the channel, a situation which is unacceptable to us.” As a result Melita will be taking Bravo off air with immediate effect.
With the latest changes in the Melita Digital channel line up customers now a choice of 70 channels, two of which are promotional channels, plus 50 digital radio stations for a reduced price of Lm13 per month. This equates to just Lm1.2 per month more than the Family package in analogue.
Moreover, earlier in the month Melita announced the launch of Multiroom a scheme through which Melita Digital subscribers can connect multiple set-top boxes in different rooms at no extra cash outlay and enjoy digital programming in multiple rooms for as low as Lm2.50 per month per room.
