The STMicroelectronics Malta site was recently presented with the National Emas Award for the best innovation in Emas (Eco-Management Audit Scheme) for the large organisations (> 250 employees) category.

This award was presented to the site plant facilities manager, Anthony Scicluna and by the Environmental Directorate General of the European Commission, Herbert Aichinger during the Emas Conference 2005 held in Villach, Austria.

The national award, of very original design, was presented for the best Maltese site showing innovation in promoting Emas and its positive effects for the environment that comprise the format of the environmental statement and ways of communicating it to the citizens.
