Winter Menu launched at Ghonnella

Malta Independent Tuesday, 1 November 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 20 years ago

During a dinner party held for the press at the Ghonnella Cellar Restaurant (Palazzo Spinola), to launch the restaurant’s winter menu, operations manager Raymond Borg stated that more and more Maltese diners are becoming aware of the fact that our cuisine has taken its well-deserved place among other international markets.

However, speaking briefly about Maltese wines, Mr Borg conceded that while foreigners visiting our island are always inclined toward sampling domestic options, the Maltese population in general still favours foreign vintages, a trend that over time may change for the better.

Sales manager for Emmanuel Delicata Winery, Georges Meekers, then gave a brief explanation of the expertly selected marriages of five Malta grown wines to five Maltese dishes to which the guests were treated at dinner.

Mr Meekers explained that Delicata will definitely continue to support those restaurateurs who are ambassadors of Maltese wines by providing proficient wine service and staff wine training to the benefit and greater pleasure of the wine drinker – no matter where he or she hails from.

During the party, the Christmas season programme was also announced. Mr Borg explained that the restaurant has prepared a selection of attractive menus ranging from a standing reception menu to a full six course meal if one desired so. Mr Borg, also announced that reservations are now open for New Years Eve, and guests will be able to choose between the Cellar Restaurant and the Giardini Marquee.
