Court: Man Accused of assaulting nurses

A young man pleaded not guilty yesterday to assaulting nurses at the St Luke’s emergency department last Sunday.

Jonathan Galea, 23, of St Paul’s Bay, was accused of assaulting and threatening nurses at the casualty department of St Luke’s Hospital at around 11pm on 30 September.

He pleaded not guilty to these charges as well as to those of breaching the peace, using obscene

language in public and damaging hospital equipment.

Galea was also charged with relapsing in view of three previous convictions.

Presiding magistrate Silvio Meli granted the accused bail against a Lm500 personal guarantee.

Inspector Mario Bonello prosecuted.

Dr Joseph Giglio appeared for Galea.
