Travel: Skiing With P&A Sullivan at Madonna di Campiglio

Malta Independent Sunday, 6 November 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

In March of this year a group of journalists were invited by P&A Sullivan for a week of skiing in one of Italy's top resorts – Madonna Di Campiglio – in the Trentino area of Italy’s Trentino Alto Adige region.

The group stayed in one of the hotels P&A Sullivan use for their ski tours. The Miramonti, a four-star hotel, is family run and the husband and wife team are fully committed to making sure that their guests have a pleasant stay.

The staff are also very nice, well trained and actually going out of their way to ensure that you feel at home – even though you are thousands of miles away from home.

One of the hotel’s advantages is that it is situated near the ski lifts – a must for any skier. But more than that, you can practically ski back into the hotel.

Right next door to the Miramonti is the three-star Residence Antares. This is self-catering accommodation but all the facilities of the Hotel Miramonti are available to anyone staying in the Residence Antares.

It is quite a unique experience to be able to go away as a group and, although staying in a different category of hotel, still be together as a group.

Another characteristic of this resort is that, unlike many others, you have a choice of more then one ski school. P&A Sullivan have carefully chosen which ski school to recommend.

Our tour leader Peter Sullivan has been at the resort dozens of times and he has a lot of experience of what the ski schools there have to offer.

Although he admits that all the schools at the resort are of a good standard, he fully recommends the Scuola Sci Nazionale Madonna Di Campiglio as being the best.

Ski resorts are also classified according to the quality of the equipment they hire out. In Madonna Di Campiglio you are guaranteed high quality equipment.

P&A Sullivan have been in the travel business for a very long time and they are undoubtedly one of Malta’s leading travel agents.

There are a number of professional travel agents in Malta today, and each of them operates in a way that distinguishes them from the competition.

The type of holiday and the destinations chosen make all the difference, and this is where P&A Sullivan excels.

Experienced skiers know full well that there are hundreds of ski resorts available – each having a unique characteristic, different prices, location and so on. However, Madonna Di Campiglio is undoubtedly a resort worth visiting.

The number of slopes and ultra modern facilities, the choice of accommodation, restaurants and night entertainment and the standard of the ski schools, make it a must place to visit.

Of course, going to Madonna Di Campiglio with P&A Sullivan makes a big difference.

Peter is practically a household name in the resort and thanks to his contacts and popularity with the locals, you feel very welcome during your stay.

Peter is a very good skier and those who have previous experience skiing will have a fantastic experience with him.

Fine, so everything is top-notch at Madonna di Campiglio, but how much does it cost? When you decide to go on a skiing holiday do not look only at the price of the package on offer. Delve deeper to see what is exactly on offer and what is covered in the price.

Another advantage is the variety of hotels in Madonna di Campiglio and prices to suit everyone’s pocket. The reference to Hotel Miramonti and Residence Antares is typical of this skiing destination.

You could be sorely disappointed if you choose a destination solely on the asking price. You could end up in a resort with few ski runs and very poor facilities.

Another point to stress is that to enable the travel agent to give better and more competitive prices, early booking is a must. Only then can you expect to obtain reasonably cheap airline tickets and accommodation.

Although the focus of this article is on skiing in Madonna Di Campiglio, P&A Sullivan organise skiing trips to other top destinations. Among the most popular are Cervinia in Valle D’Aosta and Ischgl in the Tyrol area of Austria.

To confirm their commitment to giving their clients the best service possible, P&A Sullivan produce a skiing brochure every year, giving details of the destinations they cover and the hotels they visit.

If you require a free brochure, please either email: [email protected] or call the telephone number shown below.
