Is-Simar Nature Reserve Now ready to open with help from APS Bank

Is-Simar Nature Reserve, which is managed by BirdLife Malta.

APS Bank Marketing Unit senior manager Alfred Triganza spoke of the bank’s role in the community, especially in matters relating to the environment. The bank financially supports many initiatives carried out on a voluntary basis and BirdLife Malta is one of their beneficiaries. Is-Simar Nature Reserve, and the Dinja Wahda programme are two main events in which the bank is actively participating as a main sponsor.

BirdLife Malta president Joseph Mangion thanked APS Bank for making the building of the centre possible through its sponsorship, adding that the opening of the reserve was proof of BirdLife Malta’s ongoing commitment to improve Malta’s natural environment and bring nature closer to the Maltese people.

From now until May, BirdLife Malta is opening is-Simar Nature Reserve to the public from 12.30pm to 4.30pm every Sunday, except on public holidays. The main entrance gate to the reserve is situated behind the parking area at the bottom of Xemxija Hill in Triq il-Pwales, St Paul’s Bay.

The reception centre was opened by Tourism Minister Francis Zammit Dimech and Rural Affairs and Environment Minister George Pullicino.

It has also received financial assistance from UNESCO, the Malta Tourism Authority and Vodafone Malta Ltd.
