Le Beaujolais Nouveau Est arrivé!

Malta Independent Wednesday, 9 November 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 15 years ago

The third Thursday in November is the 17th of the month and the day that Beaujolais Nouveau wine arrives. The InterContinental Malta is celebrating it with a four-day experience of French specialties imported directly from France. Executive chef Max Grenard who, incidentally, was born and bred in Lyons, has created a special menu featuring the cuisine of this region especially for the occasion.

Meilleur Ouvrier De France Frank Josserand, a master sommelier of the very highest recognition, will introduce guests to the delights of this pleasant new wine as well as a vast selection of mature Beaujolais and French wines.

In keeping with tradition, and to compliment the range of wines that are being served, InterContinental Malta is also inviting Claude Lauxerrois, a Maitre Fromager, who will advise those present on the best French cheese to accompany the respective wine. M. Lauxerrois is one of France’s top experts on cheese, and actually represents around 1,000 various types of cheese himself. He will be bringing to InterContinental Malta a selection for clients to taste.

“It is a unique occasion to have two of the highest recognised French connoisseurs under one roof and we are very proud to present this exceptional experience at Intercontinental Malta” said general manager Christophe Laure.

The Beaujolais Food Festival will be held from 17 to 20 November for dinner only at Carissa Restaurant, together with the support of Anthony Cassar and Sons Ltd, accompanied with the live music of an accordion and the typical atmosphere of this unique gastronomic region.

A traditional buffet lunch, Bonchon Lyonnais, will also be served on Sunday, 20 November.
