“P. Cutajar & Co. Ltd is synonymous with high quality, world-renowned brands and yet again we are proud to introduce a new brand to our prestigious portfolio, Cattier champagne,” said the company’s sales and marketing director Denis Zammit Cutajar during the official launch.

The champagne is produced in the village of Chigny les Roses, near the city of Reims, where the Cattier family has been devoted to the culture of vineyards since 1763. The Cattier concern remains an independent family company of 18 people.

The product range includes a champagne classified “Premier Cru”, coming from a vineyard of notable quality and singular status. In fact, in over 300 villages in the Champagne area, fewer than 50 producers have this special classification.

The Cattier vineyard, with over 20 hectares of land, includes one of the very few “clos” – a vineyard surrounded by a wall – in Champagne. Clos du Moulin, today part of the Cattier vineyards spread over 2.2 hectares, belonged to M. Allart de Maisonneuve, an officer of King Louis XV. The Cattier family came into possession of the “clos” in 1951. Its remarkable cuvée is the result of the master blending of selected vintages, produced from high quality harvests. Its limited and numbered production of about 20,000 bottles makes this cuvée one of the most exclusive champagnes. It was selected by Air France and British Airways for First Class and Concorde.

The exclusive Cattier champagne produces and sells 800,000 bottles a year, half of which are exported to 60 countries worldwide.

Moreover Cattier champagnes have won many accolades for their quality. Parker’s guide to French wines described the champagne as excellent in the category of the best producers of non-vintage champagnes, and as among the best “prestige cuvées” of champagne, primarily with Clos du Moulin.
