Euro In Malta The Time Challenge

Malta Independent Sunday, 27 November 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

The Malta Institute of Management is organising a series of two seminars on the adoption of the euro in Malta. The topic is becoming more of a sensitive issue because it appears that many businesses are not giving due importance to the matter. Businesses need to start preparing immediately for the adoption of the euro. It is not only a government and national matter but also a highly critical area in business strategy at operational level.

In view of the above, the Malta Institute of Management (MIM) has established the following objectives for these seminars.

Analyse the 1 January 2008 target and the reasoning behind the target

Explain the impacts in economic terms including perception/credibility terms of Malta not meeting the target and the direct impact on businesses

Explain how Malta is preparing for the euro

Analyse whether the euro issue is beyond politics in Malta

Explain strategic and operational issues that businesses and managers need to consider

Learn from other countries’ experience on the matter.

In order to achieve the above, MIM has engaged a number of high calibre speakers, among whom are Dott. Commercialista Roberto Geraci from Milan and Professor Edward Scicluna and Reuben Buttigieg from the Malta Institute of Management.

The seminars will also be addressed by Tonio Fenech, Parliamentary Secretary for the Ministry of Finance and Dr Charles Mangion, Malta Labour Party spokesperson.

The seminars should be of particular interest to managers, accountants and auditors, business persons, consultants and students. The seminars will be held on 29 November and 1 December at 5:30pm.

Interested parties should contact Stephanie Scerri at the Malta Institute of Management on 2145 3097 or [email protected] .
