AX Holdings chairman, Angelo Xuereb recently presented a silver plaque to George Schembri in appreciation of his eight years of service to the AX Holdings hospitality divison.

George joined the AX Group in March 1998 as general manager of the Victoria Hotel, a few months after it opened its doors. During his five years at its helm he developed the Victoria’s reputation as a unique city hotel in the heart of Sliema.

This experience served him in good stead when in May 2003 he was entrusted with the responsibility of Chief Executive Officer of the Suncrest Hotel. During the past two years he managed to rebuild the hotel’s credibility with the overseas tour operators and the local destination management companies.

Mr Xuereb thanked Mr Schembri for his sterling service to the group and wished him every success in his new post as CEO of the Malta Hotels and Restaurants Association.
