DSL Internet Remains leading broadband technology in Malta

Malta Independent Sunday, 15 January 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

DSL technology remains the preferred mode of broadband connectivity for Maltese Internet users. This was highlighted in the latest Electronic Communications Market review just issued by the Malta Communications Authority, covering the period up to the third quarter of 2005.

The number of DSL broadband users was over 25,000 at the end of September 2005, which means that the lead in market share enjoyed by DSL against Cable Internet has continued to widen.

Commenting about these results, Maltanet CEO Keith Fearne said, “DSL has had a lead over cable for quite some time, but over the last months this has continued to grow. We are confident that this lead has continued increasing in the last quarter of 2005. The fact that we own the largest national data network, that we have the largest international bandwidth connection outside Malta, and that we have now merged Maltanet and Datastream into one company, makes us the obvious choice for more customers everyday.

“This is backed up by our continued promise of excellence in everything we do.”

Maltanet is the leading provider of broadband and IP services, and part of the Maltacom Group.
