Distribution Of BBC World in the Hospitality Industry

BBC World Distribution is exclusively licensed to distribute the 24-hour news and information channel known as “BBC World” (the “Channel”) and has appointed Media Satellite Worldwide, as an authorised distributor of the Channel to hotels and serviced apartments in Malta (the “Territory”).

The reception, retransmission, distribution, exhibition and/ or any other use of the Channel in

this manner must be expressly authorised by BBC World Distribution Limited, or one of its authorised distributors, pursuant to a written licence or distribution agreement.

All operators of cable television, MMDS or SMATV systems in hotels and serviced apartments in the Territory are required to obtain formal authorisation in the form of a licensing agreement with BBC World Distribution Ltd or one of its authorised distributors to receive, transmit and/or exhibit the Channel on their premises.

Any unauthorised reception, retransmission or use of the Channel constitutes an infringement of BBC World Distribution Ltd’s rights in the Channel. Hotels are required to pay the commercial licensing to BBCW in order to distribute this channel in the hotel. Failure to do so will be a criminal offence. (Chapter 414 and 415 of the Laws of Malta and Dir 2004.48.EC.)
