Torres Sommelier Toni Batet will be visiting Malta to conduct a short wine course entitled "Appreciating Torres". The course will consist of lectures and tutored tasting and will take place at Hotel Juliani, St Julian's on 23 and 24 February from 10.30am to 2.30pm.

Apart from the opportunity to learn about Torres wines, participants will also have a chance to travel to Spain and visit the Torres winery. At the end of the course, a short examination will be held and the highest placed participant will be representing Malta at the Miguel Torres Wine Course in Barcelona from 29 May to 2 June.

This annual course is attended by wine professionals from around the world and this will be the third time that a representative from Malta will be attending. During this time, the participants are immersed in Torres wine and culture with visits to vineyards, winemaking centres and the winery. An Introduction to Viticulture lecture by Miguel A.Torres opens the course and practical tasting sessions are conducted by Mireia Torres Maczassek. Upon completion of an examination, diplomas are awarded to successful participants with a silver diploma awarded to the highest placed student.
