BOV Appoints new manager for its Canada representative office

Bank of Valletta has appointed Emmanuel Ciappara as the new manager of its representative office in Canada.

Born in 1952, Mr Ciappara commenced his banking career in June 1969. In 1992, he was assigned the task of setting up Australia’s second BOV representative office in the city of Melbourne, after which he was appointed chief representative, wherein through the Sydney office he took responsibility for the bank’s overall operations in Australia.

While in Australia, Mr Ciappara was an active member of the Overseas Bankers Association, for which he also served as vice-president. He also served as secretary of the Maltese Australian Chamber of Commerce and Culture, organising and participating in a number of business trade missions in Malta and overseas.

Upon his return to Malta in 2001, Mr Ciappara served as senior manager within the Bank’s Mortgages Depart-

ment and in 2004 was appointed head of the bank’s audit department.

Mr Ciappara is married to Tanya and has two children, Sarah and Roberto.
