Bank of Valletta has sponsored a cultural initiative whereby the publication entitled Stejjer ghal qabel jidlam by Oliver Friggieri was translated to Arabic by Martin R. Zammit. Copies of the publication were presented by Dr Joseph Cassar, Ambassador of Malta for Libya to Mustafa Shakttur, the general director of the Cultural Affairs and Technical Cooperation and to Mahmood Lablab, general director of the General Administration of Book Publishing.

The presentation was made during a visit to the Libyan Culture Ministry in Bab Ben Ghashir for which Maria Calleja, First Secretary at the Embassy of Malta was also present.

Speaking during the presentation, Charles Saliba, manager of BOV’s Representative Office in Tripoli, Libya, said, “We are delighted to support this project which will help to promote further the cultural links between Malta and Libya.”

He said that BOV has been promoting cultural exchanges between the two countries since it inaugurated its Tripoli Representative Office in January 2002.

Among other services, the BOV Tripoli representative office assists Bank of Valletta’s customers in further understanding business opportunities available in the Jamahiriya and promotes investment and commercial ties between Malta and Libya with the aim to improve the relationship between the Maltese and Libyan banking sectors while fostering trade and investment between the two countries.
