Ray M. Cassar has been appointed chief executive officer for Apex, the organisation representing the Maltese Cooperative Movement.
Mr Cassar has a wide-ranging experience in senior management, having occupied top executive posts with various Maltese and foreign companies, including British, Italian, German and Japanese firms, operating in diverse sectors, ranging from academia to manufacturing.
In recent years he occupied the post of Business Development Manager with the Institute for the Promotion of Small Enterprise (IPSE) where he specialised in Business Start Ups, Entrepreneurships, Export Marketing, Network Broking and Business Planning.
Mr Cassar graduated with a B.A.(Hons) in English Literature and Linguistics and a Master’s Degree in Applied Linguistics from the University of Malta. In 1977 he was awarded a British Council Scholarship to read for the degree of Master in Education which he was awarded in 1980.
Between 1980 and 2001 he served as Local Secretary and Chief Oral Examiner for Malta on behalf of the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate (UCLES).
