38 Volkswagen owners representing the New VW Beetle Owners got together earlier this month to enjoy their convertible and hatchback models.

These new VW Beetle enthusiasts were treated to an overnight stay at the new Radisson SAS Golden Sands Resort and Spa courtesy of Island Hotels and were also hosted to a complimentary dinner on Thursday night and a lavish breakfast the following morning. On Friday a luncheon was hosted by Continental Cars of Princess Margaret Street, Msida, who are the local importers and exclusive agents of the Volkswagen brand here in Malta for more than 50 years.

On the sunny Friday morning the cars cruised from Golden Bay to Qawra where a static display of the new Beetle was held in the car park opposite Fra Ben between 9.30am and 11.30am. The V-Dubs Club joined forces with the new Beetles and displayed some of their earlier pristine condition models. The management of Fra Ben Restaurant also hosted welcome drinks to all VW participants whilst their cars were on display.

A luncheon followed this event at SAS Radisson Golden Bay. Ms. Ruth Sammut Casingena entertained the guests during lunch and all VW owners were invited to participate in a competition. The four main prizes were: one week Mediterranean Cruise courtesy of Hamilton Travel, two tickets to the UK courtesy of BritishJet.com, a weekend break at Radisson SAS Golden Sands Resort and Spa courtesy of Island Hotels and a full service including parts and labour courtesy of Continental Cars.

MTA and Island Hotels co-sponsored this event with the ultimate aim of creating awareness and interest among international foreign VW Clubs with the hope of hosting an International Beetle Event to be held in Malta in 2007.

This is the fifth event whereby the new VW Beetle Owners got together to share their Beetle passion. Mr Adrian Grech Cumbo, an eager New Beetle owner and enthusiast, organised and coordinated this event with the aid of Continental Cars Ltd and the main sponsors mentioned above.
