Malta Independent Friday, 3 March 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

United Motor Company Ltd, a United Group company, has announced the recent acquisition of the 24-hour breakdown service company, CAA.

The complete take-over, which was formalised late in January, will completely overhaul the operations of the old company inciting a new management team, led by Edmund Gatt Baldacchino as managing director and Ludwig Farrugia as general manager.

From its inception in 1991, CAA’s operations grew steadily and attracted thousands of members annually. With an unfaltering commitment to its members in providing roadside assistance in the shortest time possible, CAA established itself as one of the leaders in its field, recognised for its efficiency, professionalism and reliability. United Group has been established more than 70 years in the automotive industry locally.

The United Group has interests in car rentals, leasing and fleet management and is the local operator for Hertz Rent a Car. It is also the sole distributor and sales franchisee for Malta for Opel and Saab.

In a statement, Mr Gatt Baldacchino said: “The United Group has a lot to offer to CAA: It brings with it years of valuable experience and knowledge of the automobile industry, as well as the resources necessary to help CAA expand its customer base and add more value through unparalleled service quality and reliability.”

As of February, CAA started operating from its new premises located at Pantar Road, Lija. The breakdown service number has changed to 2331-6666 or 9931-6666. For further information, the public is invited to call on office number 2331-6666 or send an email on [email protected].
