Matthew Shoults said “yes” to opening an HSBC Student Account last October and has now also said “yes” to taking part in an Earthwatch expedition to research Spanish dolphins.
Matthew, an MCAST student from Qormi was the winner of HSBC’s YES 4 Students campaign competition, which this year had an environmental theme.
“HSBC took an innovative approach to its Freshers’ Week campaign this year. Together with KSU, we worked to encourage students to show greater concern for the environment. Not only did we offer an Earthwatch expedition to our competition winner, but we have also begun planting one tree for every student who said yes to an HSBC Student Account last October,” said head of Personal Financial Services at HSBC Bank Malta plc, Mr Godfrey Swain.
This year’s YES 4 Students campaign competition asked new HSBC student account holders to write a slogan on the environment. “Every time you harm the environment, you harm yourself. So don’t be mean, keep the earth clean!” was Matthew’s winning entry. Other prizes went to Ray Said, Brian Zammit, Greta Camenzuli and Joseph Vassallo.
