Frank Salt Real Estate have just returned from Stockholm, Sweden after having participated together with their Swedish associates, leading Swedish agents B.M. Koch at the International Property Exhibition “Buying Properties Abroad” held on 18 and 19 February at the Globen in Stockholm.

The fair was visited by over 7,000 prospective buyers having attracted a good number of participating countries including Thailand, France, Spain, Cyprus, Greece and Italy.

Mr Lupi, managing director who managed the stand reported substantial interest by Swedish clients in buying and renting property in Malta and Gozo. “The high taxation and cold climate in their country were the two main factors, which were enticing Swedish clients to seek permanent residence in Malta,” said Mr Lupi. “The problem is, however, that there is hardly any name awareness in the Nordic countries, in promoting, Malta as a holiday or retirement destination. Not to mention the problem of accessibility as there is only one direct flight a week to Stockholm.”

“On the other hand, we were pleased to note that Malta’s Ambassador for Denmark, Sweden and Finland, Dr Noel Buttigieg Scicluna, has taken considerable interest in tapping these very wealthy markets.”

Another similar exhibition is scheduled to be held in Gothenburg, Sweden, on 4 and 5 March and the organisers will, during the fair, be holding a seminar specifically promoting Malta and Tax advantages provided under the residency scheme.

“We already have a number of prospective clients coming over in the near future and we hope to have even more after the Gothenburg Fair.” said Mr Lupi.
