Valletta Fund Management Limited announced details of a new product last week – the La Valette High Yield Fund. Tonio Depasquale, CEO Bank of Valletta and director of Valletta Fund Management Limited gave details of this latest investment opportunity during a press conference at the offices of Valletta Fund Management Ltd in Floriana.

Addressing the media, Kenneth Farrugia, general manager of Valletta Fund Management Limited explained, “This new investment opportunity, which is denominated in euro, is ideal for investors who are willing to accept a higher level of risk with the possibility of earning potential higher total returns, by way of income as well as capital appreciation through investment in the high yield bond market. Another important feature of this new fund is that it will aim to distribute its income derived from the underlying investments every three months, wherein investors may opt to either receive such income or reinvest it in the fund at no additional cost.”

Insight Investment’s fixed income team, which has a long-standing successful track record in managing fixed interest portfolios, will manage the La Valette High Yield Fund.

Present for the press conference was Craig Abouchar, Investment Manager of the new La Valette High Yield Fund. Mr Abouchar spoke about the importance of diversification across different sectors and countries in the high yield market.

Mr Abouchar added, “Insight Investment is one of the UK’s largest investment managers having a fixed income team which conducts intensive research to select companies with higher yields aiming to take advantage of both income as well as capital growth opportunities. Insight Investment has one of the best-resourced and experienced specialist fixed income teams in the fixed income industry in the UK.”

During the initial offer period up to 10 April, shares in the fund will be issued at a fixed price of Euro 1 per share and the up-front charge is being reduced from 3.50 per cent to 1.75 per cent. Investors can buy shares in the La Valette High Yield Fund from a minimum investment of €2,000.
