With its impressive participation at Air Freight Asia 2006 held in Shanghai, Emirates SkyCargo proved that it means business in the Far East, particularly China. Air Freight Asia 2006 is one of the most esteemed of air cargo conferences and exhibitions in the Asia Pacific and Middle East regions. It convened for the 12th time since 1986, after previous events in Singapore, Sapporo, Bangkok, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur and Seoul. Emirates SkyCargo serves 10 cities in the Far East.

Emirates SkyCargo, which is represented in Malta by Cassar & Cooper Limited, serves 78 destinations in 55 countries in Europe, North America, Middle East, Africa, the Far East and the Indian subcontinent. The Far East is one of Malta’s main markets for Emirates SkyCargo, both for exports and imports, with Hong Kong and Singapore as the two major destinations.

The Emirates SkyCargo stand, one of the biggest and busiest, attracted huge interest among trade visitors and other industry players. The stand featured the cargo division’s new products and solutions, and the interactive www.skycargo.com, powered by SkyChain . The website, which could be accessed on computers and laptops at the stand, enabled visitors and customers to view and transact business online.

Senior managers and staff from Emirates SkyCargo headquarters in Dubai and the local Shanghai office were on site to meet customers and trade partners, actively participate in the conference, as well as position Emirates and Dubai in the global logistics arena.

Emirates SkyCargo is ideally placed to service the booming trade particularly with China, through its six Boeing 747-400 freighters services, offering 720 tonnes of capacity, and daily belly-hold passenger services to Shanghai, offering more than 90 tonnes of payload capacity weekly.

These combined with 14 belly-hold services and 10 Boeing 747 freighter flights to Hong Kong mean that Emirates SkyCargo offers in excess of 2,000 tonnes of capacity every week to and from China. The cargo division also offers trucking services within China, catalyzing the country’s trade with the rest of the world.

Emirates flies from Malta to Dubai four times weekly via Larnaca, Cyprus. The Airbus A330-200 used on the Malta route has a freight capacity of 13 tons each way.
