Corinthia Palace Hotel In Attard announced the appointment of Indonesian chef Karyanto Mangkudarsono as its new head chef at the hotel’s award-winning Rickshaw Far Eastern Restaurant.

Chef Karyanto comes to Malta and the Corinthia Palace Hotel from Indonesia and the Middle East, where he has worked in the prestigious kitchens of the Grand Hyatt in Jakarta, the Hyatt Regency in Yogyakarta and, most recently, at the Grand Hyatt Muscat in Oman and the Marriott in Kuwait City. Chef Karyanto brings a wealth of new experiences to the Corinthia Palace and Rickshaw kitchens, particularly in the Chinese, Malay, Thai and Indonesian cuisines.

Above all, he is renowned for his genuine passion for the creation of new dishes and is currently putting together an exciting new menu to be launched in April.

The new menu will feature a new combination of exotic flavours, while retaining the Signature dishes that have become firm favourites with Rickshaw patrons over the years.

Commenting on the new appointment, Corinthia Palace incoming general manager Italico Rota said: “The Rickshaw Far Eastern Restaurant, offers a unique dining experience, and Chef Karyanto’s vast experience, creativity and enthusiasm will certainly enhance the success and reputation that has been earned over the years. Indeed, this reputation has encouraged us to export the Rickshaw concept to our overseas hotels in Lisbon, Budapest and Prague”.

Under the direction of Chef Karyanto, Rickshaw will also continue to offer the very popular home delivery service to Balzan, Lija, Attard, Zebbug, Iklin and Naxxar. “My tongue-twisting family name may be hard to memorise” quipped chef Karyanto “but I assure you that our mouth-watering new recipes will not be easily forgotten by our very loyal clientele.”
