Seminar On collective agreements

Malta Independent Sunday, 26 March 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 19 years ago

MISCO has just released an update of its “Survey of Collective Agreements”. This report is intended to provide background material to management on the development of industrial relations in Malta as reflected in the various Collective Agreements concluded by public and private firms in different sectors of business.

The survey provides a comparison of 80 Collective Agreements which were negotiated and concluded by companies in various business fields mainly in the electronics and engineering sector, banks and financial institutions, tourism, food and beverage, clothing, tourism and public corporations.

Salaries and wages for various grades in most of the above-mentioned sectors have also been updated to reflect the most recent salary scales. This manual will provide business with a comprehensive view of the changes being made in the conclusion of negotiations on collective agreements.

This year’s edition of the “Survey of Collective Agreements” was launched during a seminar held at MISCO which was open to several HR practitioners and senior managers. Lawrence Zammit, a MISCO director, and Emmanuel Micallef, consultant in industrial relations, who has updated this year’s edition of the report, addressed the seminar.

This year’s report was also repaginated and the manual is now spread over three volumes. Copies of the report are available at MISCO’s offices, 3rd Floor, Regency House, Republic Street, Valletta.
