A man was jailed for two years after he pleaded guilty to stealing two bank cards and using them to withdraw cash from an ATM machine.

Michael Chircop, 44, of Naxxar, admitted stealing two Bank of Valletta Cashlink cards to the detriment of Giuseppe Abela. The theft took place on 14 March.

Chircop also pleaded guilty to using the cards to withdraw cash from ATM machines, to receiving stolen goods and to relapsing in view of previous convictions.

Presiding magistrate Joseph Cassar sentenced the man to a two-year prison term. He ordered the time Chircop spent in preventative custody to be deducted.

Inspector Victor Aquilina prosecuted.
