PN ‘must Be relevant in the country’

Malta Independent Sunday, 2 April 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

The Nationalist Party must reflect who the Maltese people are today and what they need. It must study its relevance as a party and upgrade itself in line with the developments that are taking place in Malta today in order to remain relevant and not be abandoned by the people.

So said party secretary Joe Saliba yesterday when speaking at the PN general council held in Gozo.

Speaking at the end of the morning discussion, Deputy Leader Tonio Borg said unnecessary bureaucracy must be slashed because this is hindering justified development in the country. But one must not take the law in one’s hands.

Nor must the party, he said, spend too much time and give too much importance to the recent local council elections, which could make it lose its focus of the general picture.
