Switch Fields 12 candidates in KSU elections

Malta Independent Sunday, 2 April 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

For the first time in four years an election will be held on campus for students to choose who they would like to represent them in the Executive of the University Students’ Council (KSU). The election will be held on Thursday. Switch will be fielding a group of 12 highly motivated students for the elections.

Switch is the only complete team contesting the elections. A candidate has been fielded for every post in the executive, 10 for the General Election, which is open to the student population, and two to be elected through KSU structures.

Switch candidates come from nine different faculties. The Switch candidates have all been part of student organisations: five members of the team are currently presidents of five different organisations on campus.

Switch will consider everyone’s voice and would like to build a KSU that will give students a better opportunity to integrate and enjoy their life at university.

Moreover, Switch believes that KSU ought to wield more influence on a national level. Indeed, the voice of students on issues such as the Departure Tax and the Education Act are to be raised. Switch’s aim is to foster a better understanding of student life in the other institutions, namely Junior College, Institute of Health Care, Medical School and Ta Bighi Restoration Centre.
