The Institute of Financial Services – Malta (IFS-Malta) has awarded certificates to 25 HSBC employees who have either completed their B.Sc. (Hons) in Financial Services or have completed the four modules of the IFS course to become financial advisers.

Anthony Camilleri, Darren Agius and Anthony Felice are the HSBC employees who have successfully completed their B.Sc. (Hons) Financial Services degree and Associateship (ACIB) which is jointly offered by IFS and the University of Manchester. A further 22 HSBC staff members successfully completed the four modules leading to the Certificate for Financial Advisers (CeFA).

“HSBC’s staff complement is already very well-educated with a high percentage of graduates in our ranks. Being able to offer customers the best service and financial advice possible requires us to constantly update our knowledge. Training and education is something we should all pursue throughout our careers and HSBC will continue to support all staff who take the initiative to further their expertise,” said HSBC’s Chief Executive Officer, Shaun Wallis.

The Institute of Financial Services Malta is the country’s leading Financial Services professional body. As the local financial services arena continues to develop at a rapid rate, the IFS-Malta has been at the forefront of promoting and fostering professionalism among financial services practitioners. The mission of the IFS is to contribute effectively to Malta’s development as a reputable financial services centre by providing services which enhance key knowledge areas and skills.

“This year we have again seen many individuals from across the financial services sector in Malta endeavouring to improve their knowledge and gain better qualifications. This is a matter of intense satisfaction for IFS-Malta which continues to work hard to ensure that all those employed in this crucial sector of our national economy are able to compete well with their counterparts across the globe,” said Joseph Abdilla, President of IFS-Malta.
