Tuesday 18 April was Park of Friendship Awareness Day at The Embassy Complex in Valletta. The complex was open to the public all day, with many ongoing activities for families to enjoy, while helping to raise funds for the park via donations and participation.

There were pony rides, pottery, arts and crafts and face-painting for children, as well as multi-sensory environments. These are specifically designed environments that enable people with a disability to enjoy a very wide range of sensory experiences for therapy, learning, relaxation and fun. The concept is to create events which focus on particular senses such as touch, vision, sound, smell, taste and movement. One of the rooms in the Embassy Complex was set up to create such an environment.

An exhibition room was also set up in the complex highlighting all the services offered by the park in general. This exhibition will remain open to the public well into May, and can be visited on Level +1 of the Embassy Complex in Valletta.

The afternoon events included abseiling for charity, in which several television personalities were invited to “beat their fear of heights” and descend 30 metres down the Embassy Complex façade.

Embassy Cinemas offered the public a selection of films on the day to help raise funds for the Ir-Razzett.

Similar events are planned for the coming months at the Embassy Complex, in conjunction with organisations such as the Park of Friendship, as a fund-raising initiative that ultimately creates an attractive fun atmosphere for visitors and shoppers. Ir-Razzett and Embassy would like to wholeheartedly thank all those who contributed to the organisation of this event, and all those who in any way participated in the various activities on the day.
