Over the Easter weekend, two couples from the Malta Wheelchair DanceSport Association participated in the Holland Dans Spektakel held in Boxmeer, Holland.

Redeemer Gatt and Mandy Ghio also participated against in the A Klass Latin American and reached the semi final.

Pippa Roberts who was one of the team of 14 adjudicators judging the wheelchair, amateur and also street dance competitions, said: “With over 500 couples participating in the events, the standard of the dancing was extremely high which made the judging very difficult. Every year it gets better”

The Malta Wheelchair DanceSport Association will be hosting the third Malta Open Dance Specatular being held under the distinguished patronage President Edward Fenech Adami on 25 and 26 November. The competitions promote integration between all dancers. Eight countries have already confirmed their participation in the championships, which are for non disabled and disabled dancers.

The expenses involved in sending couples to compete abroad are very high and the MWDA would appreciate any donations. The MWDA would like to thank their sponsors on this occasion, Air Malta. The Association would also like to hear from people who wish dance either in a wheelchair or as a standing partner. For further information, please visit the web site: www.maltawda.com
