Malta Independent Sunday, 7 May 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

Data-byte Computer Serv-ices Ltd has celebrated its 20th year in ICT services by launching a very innovative IT solution for the parking industry to the international market.

Over the last 24 months, Data-byte researched various parking operations and logistics, as well as available solution on the market using m-parking concepts. The outcome was that it was feasible to design its own, easy-to-use and versatile application to cater for the new methods of generating urban revenue through efficient and effective parking management.

The system, designed and based on the simple use of the well-diffused SMS technology, has been designed with technology, environment and efficiency considerations in mind. It is the solution to generate immediate revenues to private parking site owners, municipalities and local government doing away with aesthetically unpleasant, invasive urban parking furnishing and ‘cash on the street’ – two major issues that the system was primarily designed to avoid.

The Databyte model also caters for a total parking solution. The solution caters for non-mobile phone users as well as the highly relevant component of enforcement that, as we all know, is a crucial player in this model.

Participation in CeBIT in Hanover, Germany, is in itself a feat for any company. In what is such a huge celebration of innovative Information Technology where all the big names boast of their latest and most innovative technology ‘guns’, Data-byte was able to generate substantial interest in this product from potential business partners in Scotland, Greece, Lithuania, Dubai, Turkey, Germany, Romania and Poland.

The general overall comment of all these people who sat and watched the demos and presentations attentively was the originality of the wide ranging embedded functionality and extreme easy of use and operation for the end-user, as well as the operating company giving the service to the municipality or private car park zone.

Data-Byte is now actively seeking to form alliances with software houses that see the potential of the core application and proceed with a joint development project for its clients, or with parking management companies willing to jointly develop this product for their municipalities.
