HSBC Bank Canada Announces first quarter 2006 results

HSBC Bank Canada, which has more than 170 offices, has announced net income attributable to common shares of C$116 million for the quarter ended 31 March 2006.

The bank’s total assets at 31 March 2006 were C$52.3 billion while funds under management increased to C$30.4 billion.

“Through its operations in Canada and Malta, HSBC provides an important link between the thousands of people who have relatives or business interests in both countries. These latest positive figures highlight the fact that HSBC is performing well across the Group.

“As the world’s local bank, we are truly providing our customers with the support they need in order to fulfil their banking requirements quickly and easily, wherever their requirements may be,” said HSBC Bank Malta’s chief executive Shaun Wallis.
