Long Service awards

Malta Independent Thursday, 11 May 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 19 years ago

During a special celebration at the Coastline Hotel, 68 members of staff with Island Hotels Group received awards in recognition of their loyalty and length of service, ranging from five to 15 years.

What made this year’s awards even more special was the fact that among the various recipients were three employees who have special needs and who work on a full-time basis in various departments across the Group.

During the ceremony, group managing director Winston V. Zahra thanked all those present for their commitment and loyalty towards the company. In a short address, Mr Zahra explained that he is very proud of the fact that the group has always based its employment policy of choosing Maltese nationals to work in the properties owned and managed by the group.

Mr Zahra emphasised the fact that the staff of the group are its main asset and he thanked everyone present for their dedication and constant efforts towards the delivery of the best possible service to the thousands of international and local clients that use the group’s services.

He also proudly noted that the group now employs over 1,000 people in its four hotels and catering company. He also reminded his listeners that over half of the staff in the group have worked for the company for over five years. Next year will see the addition of a 20-year award, an event definitely worth celebrating, along with the Radisson SAS Bay Point Resort’s 10th anniversary.

Group chairman Nazzareno Vassallo also addressed the recipients of awards and thanked everyone for their on-going dedication to the group. He also said that he looked forward to seeing each individual develop with the group during the years ahead.

Employees and their partners were treated to an evening reception.

Mr Zahra and Mr Vassallo presented recipients of awards with a commemorative plaque and also a voucher for use at the Island Hotels Group outlets as a gesture of appreciation and recognition of their loyalty and length of service.
