A textile company filed a judicial protect in court against Malta Industrial Parks Ltd and the Lands Commissioner yesterday, claiming that their order to evict a factory they rent on Bulebel is illegal.

In its protest, Linkyarn (Cashmere) Industries Ltd said it rents a factory on the Bulebel Industrial Estate in order to produce textiles for export and also for the local market. It said that after obtaining the necessary permits from the authorities, the factory also began to be used as a warehouse.

The company said that on 24 April it received an eviction order from Malta Industrial Parks Ltd which gave the company 20 days to leave the premises. This order was, it said, abusive and illegal and was in breach of the European Convention on Human Rights.

Linkyarn (Cashmere) Industries Ltd said the eviction order was illegal and warned Malta Industrial Parks Ltd that they were being held responsible for any damages that the company may suffer as a result of this order.
