The Malta Red Cross Society is issuing a call for applications from committed volunteers to join its Disaster Response Team.
The Disaster Response Team gives assistance, when requested, to the Civil Protection and Health Departments. Team members are given continuous training by following internal courses and by regular participation in first aid posts at mass events. Team members also man beach posts and were involved in humanitarian work in Sri Lanka after the 2004 South East Asian tsunami. The Disaster Response Team assists immigrants and is asked to help the staff of the health department when a large number of immigrants arrives at the same time.
Training given includes basic and advanced first aid, psychological first aid and water rescue.
Applicants have to be at least 18 years old. The Red Cross follows a policy of equal opportunity and strives to have a gender balance within the team. Those wishing to apply should send an application with CV by email to [email protected] For further information, please contact the Malta Red Cross on 2122-2645.
