Malta Independent Wednesday, 17 May 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

Ontime Automotive Ltd (Ontime) have contracted Datatrak Solutions Ltd (DSol) to provide them with DispatchIT; a complete fleet management and job dispatching system to be installed across their 650 specialised fleet. This fleet ranges from 7.5 tonne transporters to HGV transporters suitable for commercial and plant equipment recovery and delivery. Ontime have placed an initial order to cover the first 100 vehicles as a result of an extensive trial which successfully proved that DispatchIT could cater for all Ontime’s needs.

The system will bring efficiencies and cost savings across the whole spectrum of the company’s business functions. Management will be able to obtain concise and quick reports to help them analyse performance; the transport officer will be able to get the job dispatched to the best available resource and the driver will receive timely and clear job instructions with the least possible amount of user intervention.

Job information including job statuses, signature capture, vehicle damage reports, vehicle images and location information are captured and transmitted in real time from the mobile devices and are available immediately to the back office operators. The system’s versatility has allowed it to be configured to closely follow the company’s current work practices ensuring that information is captured in an unobtrusive way without interfering with the driver’s work schedule but in fact complimenting the way they work.

Stuart Mc Laughlan, Financial Director for Ontime said “We have looked at various potential systems that purported to handle our requirements and found that DispatchIT gave us all the functionality we required at an extremely competitive price.”

Steve Hutchings, Ontime Rescue and Recovery Sector Director said, “We were initially sceptical that DispatchIT could deliver on all its promises but after an extensive trial of the system during which we were given sterling support by the datatrak team we are confident enough to proceed with the implementation of the system.”

Joe Fenech Conti, DSol CEO commented that “the Ontime contract further confirms the potential of DispatchIT to cater for varying client requirements. It is the result of a lot of hard work put in by our UK country manager Roland Scerri as well as a unified effort by our software development and support team to ensure that the client’s initial reservations were overcome fully.”
