Artist Gabriel A. Pellegrini recently presented one of his paintings L’Occhio del Ciclone to Middlesea Group Chairman Mr Mario C. Grech. This painting will be included as an addition to Middlesea Group’s fine art collection.

Mr Pellegrini, a former senior manager of Middlesea Insurance plc, had come up with the idea, years back, of printing company calendars – Focus on Maltese Art – in honour of local art and artists.

“The Middlesea Group calendar, thanks to the support of Mr Grech, fast became very much appreciated by the Maltese. It was also in demand by overseas companies Middlesea had contact with,” Mr Pellegrini pointed out.

Following disasters such as Katrina, Rita and Wilma, the painting presented to Middlesea Group highlights the devastation caused by Mother Nature, Mr Pellegrini pointed out.

“In the wake of the disasters and having worked in the insurance field for 30 years, I thought it was appropriate to give the painting to the Chairman of Middlesea Group.”

Mr Pellegrini, an art lover, art collector and the author of a biographical synopsis on sculptor Chev. Vincent Apap M.O.M., O.B.E. (1909-2003), is the son of the late artist Dr Vincenzo Maria Pellegrini (1911-1997). He is soon to launch a website as a contribution to Maltese art and artists.
