Maltese MEP John Attard Montalto has had a meeting with Libya’s Foreign Affairs Secretary Suleiman al-Shahoumi in Yemen.

Dr Attard Montalto was a member of the European Parliament delegation on a visit to Yemen.

Mr al-Shahoumi was in Yemen for the country’s 16th anniversary of unification.

The two politicians discussed various issues of mutual interest, in particular the problem of irregular immigration.

Dr Attard Montalto reiterated that Malta was facing serious problems, especially with regard to the deportation of illegal immigrants coming from Libya.
