The Maltese police yesterday said that following investigations in Malta and abroad, in an operation termed Operazione Callidus which is being mentioned in the Italian media, four Maltese people were arrested and charged in court.

In a statement, the police said the police authorities of eight European countries were involved in the investigations in collaboration with Interpol and Europol. During this operation, three Maltese people and a number of foreigners were arrested.

Subsequently, the Maltese police arrested another four people who were all charged in court.

Two of them were found guilty while the other two still have pending criminal proceedings against them in connection with this case.
