The Golden Flute Festival

28 June – 1 July at St James Cavalier, Valletta

A fantastic line-up of concerts, masterclasses and lectures as well as some displays from flute shops in Malta and abroad. The festival will also host several concerts, including a jazz combo, classical ensembles and a solo concert by Peter Lukas Graf as well as premieres of new compositions by Scinaldi and Maltese composer Mario Frendo. The final concert of the festival will be a gala concert featuring Marina Piccinini and the National Orchestra of Malta in works by Tchaikovsky and Mozart’s Concerto K. 314. The concert, under the baton of Mro Michael Laus, will be held under the patronage of President Edward Fenech Adami, in the courtyard of San Anton Palace

The Mnarja is a harvest festival opening the summer season, celebrated on the feast of St Peter and St Paul. It is a typical Maltese folklore festival with music, open-air folk dancing and singing, feasting as well as horse and donkey races. It is characterised by a nightlong picnic at Buskett Gardens, Rabat, on the eve.
